Owned by Jeff & Jean Mulkey of Reedsport, OR.

Jean Mulkey was born and raised in Salem, OR where she graduated high school and then went on to get her Bachelors degree in teaching. After college, Jean moved to Reedsport and started working as a first grade teacher for the Highland Elementary School where she stayed for 30 years. While teaching, she met Jeff and they were married a couple years later.

Jeff Mulkey was born and raised in Coquille, OR. As a young adult, he started working on a commercial fishing boat. After saving up and with help from his parents, he was able to buy a small boat to start his own business. Jeff worked his way up and eventually ended up building the Pearl J himself, launching it in 1992. The Pearl J is a 68’ steel boat that mainly focuses on the Dungeness Crab, Squid and Black Cod fisheries. 

Jeff and Jean have 2 boys, Joe and Jorgen. Both boys were raised around the fishing industry and spent many summers in Alaska working with their dad on the boat. 

Jeff and Jean are both retired now and enjoy spending their time being grandparents to their 6 grandkids.
